About me

I am a team lead and Principal Investigator at the QUEST centre for responsible research at the Berlin Institute of Health of Charité Berlin, as well as a visiting Professor of Medical Informatics at Birmingham City University.
My main research focuses are trustworthy AI in healthcare and AI ethics. Specific interests of mine are practical healthcare AI-research, xAI, bias, reproducibility, and translation of AI in healthcare solutions as well as AI in healthcare product development. I am also the main organizer of the “Machine Learning in Healthcare” meetup in Berlin since 2018.
Until early 2023, I used to be the the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at ai4medicine, a company focused on medical AI data analytics and personalized mobile medical AI solutions.
In my keynotes, I cover a broad spectrum of topics from the areas of AI in healthcare and AI ethics, and I always connect them to neuroscientific topics where appropriate.
